Bruce Smith High School Diploma
The name Bruce Smith is as entrenched in the history of Minnesota as Hubert Humphrey, Kevin McHale and the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Smith, as did his father, starred for Minnesota University, leading the Golden gophers to consecutive national titles in 1940-41 and winning the Heisman the latter year. This Faribault High School diploma issued to Smith on June 10, 1938 was the gateway to his college gridiron fame. The diploma is bound by green corner ribbons in a handsome green vinyl cover with gold lettering spelling out the school’s name and has his full name “Bruce P. Smith” in the middle and signatures of school and board of education officials at the bottom. 8.25 x 10.75” opened, with the diploma NRMT and the cover EX w/a few nicks.
