Shriners & University Of Minnesota Blankets
First blanket was given to Heisman Trophy winner Bruce Smith of the University of Minnesota at the 17th annual Shrine Football Classic on January 3, 1942, which pitted All-Stars from the East vs. All-Stars from the West. Blanket is 60 x 72,” tan with a colorful design and with gold trim along the edges. Center of blanket has “East West” in the middle of the Shriner emblem. One of the corners has the original tag “Warranted to be a “Pendleton” Pendleton Woolen Mills Pendleton, Oregon.” Along with the blanket is the official souvenir program of the game. The second blanket (88 x 78”) is purple with gold trim around the edges (Minnesota’s colors) and belonged to Smith also. Gold colored “M” patch (14-1/2 x 9-1/2”) in the middle.
