This home plate was used for the first-pitch ceremonies prefacing the last Opening Day at Busch Stadium, on April 8, 2005, and then removed to be preserved without game damage. It’s a perfect symbolic memento of a ballpark that has seen so many great pitchers and hitters, as well as of the Cardinals’ final 81 home games - the course of which was charted that day with a thrilling 6-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Plate is imprinted with “Opening Day” in white and red lettering against a navy blue background and two red stars framed by the MLB logo above and “April 2005” in white on light blue on the bottom along with a baseball semi-swathed in a blue shadow. Logo appears in the center of the plate and it’s been signed by the Cardinals Players including Coaches. MLB hologram affixed. Minimal use makes for dazzling display appeal. (Estimate $1,000 - $1,500)
