In and around St. Louis, closets are no doubt filled with programs and scorecards charting games like Bob Gibson’s World Series clinchers, Lou Brock’s parade of stolen bases, Steve Carlton’s strikeouts, Ozzie Smith’s red-circled sparklers in the field, and a few home runs by that McGwire fellow.
