c. 1875 Baseball on a String Cabinet Photograph

c. 1875 Baseball on a String Cabinet Photograph

Amazing photograph circa 1875 cabinet card, to our knowledge the earliest known to use of the "ball on string" technique. This created the illusion that the subject, here a player from St. Albans, Vermont, was about to catch a baseball that is visible in the frame. Photo measures 4.5 x 6.5 and is NM-MT condition.
