Great photo of Matty doffing his cap while dinking in the cheers at on "Christy Mathewson Day" on July 26, 1916, when he returned to the Polo Grounds a month after being traded from the Giants to become player-manager of the Cincinnati Reds. Back of original 8 x 10 has an attached caption headlined "N.Y. Fans Honor 'Old Master', now Manager of Reds" as well as the International Film Service stamp. Slightly sepia toned photo is VG-EX with a few minor creases.
