Circa 1927 Ty Cobb "Sliding" Photograph by Charles Conlon
Great form from the great Cobb. See how Cobb gives only the slightest area of his foot for the first baseman to apply the tag, even Cobb's shin is away from the bag. Mimics the famed shot by Charles Conlon where Cobb slides into 3rd base, except here Cobb is sliding back to first. From his days with the Philadelphia Athletics when Cobb finished his career by playing his final two years, 1927 and 1928, under manager Connie Mack. By the way, the aging icon hit .357 as a 40-year-old in 1927 and then slumped in 1928, all the way down to .323. Measures 8x10". Minor corner loss, otherwise in excellent condition. Type 3 but excellent quality. Note: This photo is from a different source than the above category.
