Circa 1961 John F. Kennedy Abbie Rowe PSA Type I Photo
Displayed is a circa 1961 Type I photo, by Chief White House Photographer Abbie Rowe, that depicts President John F. Kennedy in the Oval Office at the White House. Rowe was a decorated and highly praised photographer who began his photography work with Franklin Delano Roosevelt and continued as the Chief White House Photographer under Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson. Apparently in the photo, President Kennedy is about to sign a bill into law, and he is surrounded by a large group of interested observers as he signs. Kennedy took office during the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union. Behind him was his duty as the skipper of PT-109 during World War II. Ahead of him was the nerve-wracking Cuban Missile crisis that seemed to put the United States and the Soviet Union on the brink of war. Only roughly two years ahead would be the tragic event in Dallas, Texas, in which President Kennedy, the youngest elected President to ever take office, was assassinated. The approx. 8x10" photo is in excellent condition, and it comes with a PSA LOA.
