Cy Young Photographs By Louis Van Oeyen (2)

Cy Young Photographs By Louis Van Oeyen (2)

Hall-of-Famer Cy Young posted 511 victories over 22 seasons, with 20 or more wins for 15 seasons, and with 5 of those seasons totalling 30 or more wins. Offered are two very special photographs of a most extraordinary pitcher, by master sports photographer Louis Van Oeyen. Van Oeyen ranks with Charles Conlon and Carl Horner as pioneering photojournalists who contributed immeasurably to baseball - both popularizing - and immortalizing - the sport. In one photo, Cy Young is lighting his pipe, a sharp closeup. In the other, a pensive Young is smoking his pipe and holding a bat ( a real one!). Van Oeyen imprints appear on the reverse sides, and both photos are dated January, 1935. Photos black & white, 7” x 9”. Condition is NRMT.
