DiMaggio Brothers Wire Photo (1940)

DiMaggio Brothers Wire Photo (1940)

Great Acme wire service photo stamped March 19, 1940 showing the DiMaggio brothers at a charity All-Star Game in Tampa, Florida to benefit he Finnish relief Fund. Joe, the only one of the brothers who played in the game, drapes his arms around Vince, who was with the Reds, and Dom, who of course was with the Red Sox, the hated rivals of Joe’s Yankees. What comes through is the genuine love and affection between the trio, which melted even Joe’s usually stone-like visage. Original photo has been re-stamped April 27, 1975 for a subsequent use. 6 x 7” and cropped around the edges to accentuate the group image. Photo is VG-EX w/light bunching and the back has an affixed caption and editorial stampings and markings.
