Dizzy Dean's Last St. Louis Cardinals Game Worn Cap

Dizzy Dean's Last St. Louis Cardinals Game Worn Cap

This fantastic hat was worn by Dizzy Dean during Spring Training of 1938, right before he was traded to the Cubs. This all-original gray, road-style cap has a leather headband inside, which is stamped "Rawlings." The cap shows nice use with just a few small holes on the felt of the brim. It was obtained in Florida at Spring Training in 1938 by Mr. Herbert K. Pringle, who then gifted the hat along with other baseball memorabilia to his nephew, John K. Pringle in 1938. A handwritten letter from uncle to nephew explaining the hat, dated 1938, is included with the lot. Also included is a 1992 letter from John detailing the cap's origin.
