Great Pittsburgh Pirates Cap Collection (15)
All of the caps included in this lot are game-model caps, some with use. The early ones are perhaps the most interesting: An early-1940s by Spalding has size 7 1/8 sewn in the band. A mid-1940s Goldsmith has number 5 and 7 1/8 sewn in the band - this was worn by second baseman/shortstop Pete Coscarart and is signed by him beneath the bill. A mid-1950s Rawlings has number 37 written in the mesh, while a circa-1960 Rawlings has number 15 written in the mesh and was likely worn by Harry Bright. An early-1970s black New Era has number 42 written in the mesh. There is also an early 1970s mustard-colored cap that shows no use, three pillbox-style caps from the late 1970s and early 1980s - one is yellow and the other two are black. The remainder are variations from the late 1980s through the early 2000s that do not show any use.
