Early 1930's Babe Ruth Old Gold Tri-Fold Advertising Sign (51x38")
This enormous classic Old Gold advertising sign on thick cardboard is quite an impressive statement, and a rare piece of Americana. “Old Gold” in “golden” lettering with a commanding image of the ever-significant baseball god, Babe Ruth, following through in pinstripes. Colors are still rich and bold, with some staining. Wonderful detail includes “Presenting Babe Ruth in the Blindfold Cigarette test” with illustration below and “Old Gold mildness and smoothness marked it right off the bat as the best [facsimile signed] Babe Ruth.” Inviting catch phrases printed: “Smoother and Better”, with image of Old Gold cigarette pack below and “Not a cough in a car load.” Sign is perfectly severed on folds into three pieces, but when put together, will measure 51x38”.
