Early Mike Tyson Contract

Early Mike Tyson Contract

Mike Tyson’s notorious professional career began with the signing of this contract (8.5x14”). Inked on February 10, 1985 his first opponent was to be Lawrence Roberson but a late change pitted him against Hector Mercedes, who would not last one full round against the youngster. Mike’s black felt tip signature is not of his own hand and most likely that of his trainer, Jim Jacobs. Included as well is the “New York State Athletic Commission Contest Report” (8.5x14”) that lists a complete schedule of the night’s bouts. Both documents have their original center folds and are typed in blue with corrections made in black ink. Both are EX. The license (8.5x13”) issued by the “State Athletic Commission of Nevada” is completed in blue ink and includes a cut Polaroid of Tyson. His blue ink signature on the reverse is bold and fluent, grading an 8/10. The license itself is folded at center and has two filing holes at top, otherwise EX. LOA.
