Exceptional FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt Related Photographs (100)
In 1949 Eleanor Roosevelt published memoirs of her family’s years in the White House entitled, This I Remember. She compiled this collection of (100) images, dating as early as the 1930’s through the 1940’s, to be included with a newspaper series of the same title. The images are of exceptional quality and capture the personal and political lives of FDR and the first lady all with original news captions written by Eleanor Roosevelt herself. Some standout images include: FDR & Eleanor spending a summer afternoon on the patio outside the Oval office, FDR with the NY Times, FDR and Eleanor on a terrace during the Quebec conference in 1944 with Churchill and his wife, and PM McKenzie King, Image of the engraved invitation to FDR’s inauguration sent to Eleanor, Eleanor with the King and Queen of England in 1942, FDR with King Ibn Saud during the Yalta Conference, FDR and Premier Stalin, FDR with Chiang Kai Shek and Churchill in Cairo 1943 , Mourners along Pennsylvania Avenue in 1945, FDR’s burial at Hyde park, General Eisenhower and Eleanor at FDR’s grave site, Eleanor and General de Gaulle at FDR’s grave site. Images are 8x10 with caption sheets attached or affixed to versos. NM to Mint condition.
