Famous Dewey Defeats Truman Presidential Wire Photo

Famous Dewey Defeats Truman Presidential Wire Photo

Newly elected President Harry S. Truman gets a kick out of the Chicago Tribune headline "Dewey Defeats Truman" in this laser wire photo. It is 10 1/2" x 7" and in EX condition. Photo was originally shot in 1948 just after Truman's run for a second term. This laser photo was re-created in 1972. The erroneous headline was in the first edition of the paper, and only a few hundred were actually released before the Tribune issued a second edition and backed off from declaring a winner.
