"George Herman Ruth" Signed Check from the Magical Year of 1927

"George Herman Ruth" Signed Check from the Magical Year of 1927

Most desirable Babe Ruth personal check is from the magical year of 1927 and in fact is dated October 4, 1927, three days after the Yankees swept the Pirates in the World Series. Made out to the N.Y. State Tax Commission, it is in the amount of $500 - a monstrous sum for the day. The entire document is completed in his hand and the signing of his full name George Herman Ruth in elegant fountain pen is so magnificent it borders on calligraphic, as the bold dark lettering is a perfect 10. What's so intriguing is that this check was written three days after the Yankees won the World Series, the highest moment in his illustrious career. Completely absent of folds and creases, Near Mint. Rare indeed are checks with all these benefits: signed in his full name, the magical time period and the condition.
