George Sisler Photo From Paul Thompson

George Sisler Photo From Paul Thompson

Unquestionably the finest close-up shot ever taken of one of the best hitters who ever lived, this vintage photo shined rare flashbulb light on a guy who never got the respect he deserved until Ichiro began to challenge his seasonal hit record of 246 (which he broke with the luxury of over 100 more at-bats than Sisler had in 1922 -- when he also hit .420). The reason had to do with the “St. Louis” on his chest, as he did his hitting for God-awful Browns teams. 7.25 x 9” photo was originally snapped by famous sports photographer Paul Thompson and later obtained by Culver Pictures for its archives. Culver sticker on back. Condition is G-VG due to a piece of the upper right corner being torn away, a 2” scar of paper loss and minor shredding of the lower right edge. However, the Sisler image is unflawed save for a crack that just touches his left shoulder.
