Harry Wright's Pocket Base Ball Score Book 1876

Harry Wright's Pocket Base Ball Score Book 1876

Hall of Famer Harry Wright had an enormous impact on the game's evolution as a player, manager and writer. As manager of the Cincinnati Red Stockings and Boston Red Stockings (Red Sox), he was the first to keep detailed scorecards -- and studied them so closely he actually lost his sight for a year, or so the story goes. Wright put out this book of bound scorecards in 1876 with instructions for how to keep score. None are filled out, however, making this a fully complete and pristine copy of a very important book, which was published by Harry Wright himself in Boston, site of some of his greatest managing triumphs. The name "W.B. Kean" is written on the cover in pencil, apparently an owner of the book at some point. Book is EX. From the incomparable O'Connor Collection.
