Historic Satchel Paige Single-Signed Baseball from 2/9/71 - The Day He Was Nominated to the Baseball Hall of Fame

Single-signed by the great Satchel Paige, this J. deBeer and Son baseball is a memento of the day Paige became the first ever Negro League veteran to be nominated for the Baseball Hall of Fame. The beautiful high-grade signature is in blue ballpoint pen and is inscribed on a side panel, "Best Wishes, From Satchel Paige." The entire inscription is in the hurler's hand, though the date of February 9, 1971 - Satchel's nomination date - has been added below in unknown hand. The ball has toning with some slight spotting but the signature is nice and clear. Comes with JSA LOA. After 18 seasons in the Negro Leagues, Paige threw six more in the Majors before retiring shortly after his 59th birthday.
