Holocaust Collection

Holocaust Collection

A poignant collection of Jewish Holocaust memorabilia. First a collection of 8 different Star of David armbands worn by Jewish inmates of Nazi ghettos and concentration camps. The first is a white Star of David on a green armband that was worn by a Jewish worker at Dachau. The German Reich stamp saying "Dachau" is on the band along with the number 386. Different colored stars meant different things. Included here are black and yellow (mentally insane); green and yellow (criminal); red (political prisoner); pink and yellow (homosexual); purple (Jehovah's Witnesses); blue (emigrant) and an all yellow star. Each star measures approximately 9" X 5" and the dirt and wear are a small testimony to the inhumane conditions these prisoners lived and died in. Also includes: postcard (4x6") written in German from Theresienstadt dated September 22, 1943 and signed by the Unterschrift; Another postcard commemorating the victims of Nazi atrocities in Lidice, Czechoslovakia bearing November 26-29, 1942 stamp and has "LIDICE" embossed in gold in the front; another World War II era postcard shows Jews and others fleeing from red Nazi flags and reads, "Mander silcht Zeit!"; yet another depicts prisoners in their striped uniforms by Kreische and reading "Befreiungsfeier Dachau 1947"- the sketch was done in pencil and measures roughly 4.25x5.5"; three unused postage stamps from the Litzmannstadt Ghetto; two coins from the Lodz Ghetto worth 5 marks; set of 6 bills from Theresienstadt dated January 1, 1943 - there are 1, 2, 5, 20, 50 and 100 Kronin denominations each with Moses holding the Ten Commandments on them with serial numbers and Stars of David on the backs. This money had no value outside of the camp. Condition averages EX+.
