Important Satchel Paige Negro League Photograph

Important Satchel Paige Negro League Photograph

Exceptional in every way, this oversized 10" x 13.5" photo is comprised of double-stock photo paper. The quality of the silken stock is gorgeous and of exceptionally high quality. This was taken by superior lens man George Strock and features his iconic stamp on verso: "Life Photo By George Strock." It is one of the offshoots of his groundbreaking June 2, 1941 photo shoot of Satchel Paige for Life Magazine. Best of all, he is shown pitching for the New York Black Yankees - the only game he ever pitched for them. The stunning background of Yankee Stadium takes this image to a whole other level. Combine this with the unmistakable look on Satchel's face and the crystal clean contrast and yes, we have a winner. Overall EX, with glued paper over the photographers stamp easily removable (we decided to leave it original and untouched). The original magazine is also included.
