Jackie Robinson Day September 23, 1947 Ticket Stub

Jackie Robinson Day September 23, 1947 Ticket Stub

One of three recently discovered tickets from Brooklyn's late-season tribute to NL Rookie of the Year Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball's color barrier that season. PSA-graded as authentic and from "Jackie Robinson Day." That event, which was organized by fans, saw Robinson rewarded with a new Cadillac, TV set, radio, cutlery and many other gifts. He also watched Bill "Bojangles" Robinson dance for him on the Ebbets Field Dugout steps, with the 69-year-old confessing that he never thought he'd see the day when a black man would play major league baseball. The hated rival N.Y. Giants watched in envy as the pennant bound Dodgers waltzed in the game, 6-1 and eventually to the N.L. pennant. Just try to find another one like this!
