Jackie Robinson High School Senior Yearbook
Jackie Robinson Senior Yearbook-1937 Muir Technical High School, Pasadena, CA. This book is a genuine rarity!! The reason is quite simple: the nature of the binding was such that most of these books fell apart shortly after they were received and very few have survived intact. It has a very fragile GBC-style plastic binder and sheets of plastic for the front and rear covers (consistent with the Technical nature of their programs). Also, very few were put away and saved, because many people did not realize Jackie was pictured as a Senior in this book. He graduated as a "midyear" student but also shows up in a Junior College yearbook dated the same year!! This book is in excellent condition, especially given its fragility. It has the normal writing and inscriptions, reasonable wear but has no moisture/water damage of any kind, no cutouts, no torn or missing pages. Jackie shows up as a graduating Senior with a posed individual head photo (and also is listed with the graduates with his activity summary)! In addition he has 4 other sports shots: one as a member of the varsity football team, one football candid, one football individual picture which has a text description of his exploits and one individual basketball photo. Note that he was not on the track or baseball teams in this yearbook as he left at midyear and was on both of those squads at Pasadena Junior College (which is where he went after graduating Muir). As an interesting footnote, Jackie's older brother Mack shows up as an honored "alum" as he had just been nosed out for the Gold Medal in the 36 Olympic games by Jesse Owens. This is a book which rarely surfaces and almost never appears intact and in this condition!
