Janis Joplin 5-page Handwritten Letter

Stories and memorabilia regarding Janis are always treasured and valued because of the intriguing and fast-paced style of her tragically ended career. This letter, addressed to her fiancTe, Peter de Blanc, is a revealing insight into Janis' psyche. Herein she pours her heart out to her prospective husband and she appears very open and vulnerable. The letter is dated Oct. 4, 1965 - exactly 5 years before her tragic death on Oct. 4, 1970. In the letter she expresses her confidence in her own feelings, but also her feelings of doubt as to his emotional and mental state. She writes: "I don't want to be too happy and light because I still have the feeling that something's wrong up there & I can't banter around w/ someone who is sad. And I don't know what if anything is wrong, so I feel a little stilted." Pages and ink remain in perfect condition, unstained or damaged. This comes with the envelope in which it was mailed with postage still on it.
