Boston fans remember him as “The Great John L.” An outstanding photo of the Boston Strongboy, John Sullivan. The last of the bare-knuckle champions, Sullivan is posed for this in studio photo wearing his ring gear with his dukes up. Fabulous contrast and its imposing size makes this one impressive vintage photo. Copyrighted 1885 with the artist’s cartouche (John Wood, New York). Mounted on cardboard which is printed with Sullivan’s fight record below. Photo itself is in NRMT condition. Matted to 18x23” and wooden frame measures 24x28”.
