Josh Gibson Signed Album Page (PSA MINT 9)

Josh Gibson Signed Album Page (PSA MINT 9)

Although he sadly was never permitted to play in the major leagues, Josh Gibson established his legend over a 16-year career in the Negro Leagues as well as other playing circuits. Considered one of the greatest catchers of all-time at any level, a testament to the Hall of Famer's prowess was his nickname as the "Black Babe Ruth." Gibson's signature is about as rare as it gets with only a handful of examples known to exist. This is the highest graded example of any Josh Gibson signature that we are aware of. This page came out of an autograph album that was assembled in Brooklyn at Bushwick Park by a young, female fan. The album contained signatures of Brooklyn Dodgers, Brooklyn Bushwicks, and Negro League players. As an extra added bonus, Satchel Paige has signed the reverse of this page. All the writing under Gibson's name is in his own hand, stating "Josh Gibson, Homestead Grays B.B. Club - 1944." The other side reads "Satchell Paige - Kansas City Monarch Base Ball Club." Both are signed in pencil, PSA/DNA Certified MT 9.
