Large Collection of Dixie Kid Photographs (42)
The Dixie Kid was born Aaron Lister Brown on December 23, 1883 in Fulton, Missouri. He began fighting as a professional in 1900 and had a career which spanned twenty years. Offered here is a rare collection of forty two original antique photographs of the Dixie Kid. The photos are all 5” x 7” and shot in Paris by photographer M. Branger. Five of the photos are posed shots of the Dixie Kid. Three shots are of the Dixie Kid at his weigh-in for his match with Marcel Thomas in Paris in 1912. Three shots depict the Dixie Kid with his wife and young baby. Thirty of the photos are studio sparring poses of the Dixie Kid with sparring partners Bob Scanlon, Paul Tie and others. One shot is of the Dixie Kid with his manger and two sparring partners. All of these photos were shot between 1911 and 1912. Each photo has two hole punches along the margin. These do not affect the images in any way. Photos of the Dixie Kid are quite rare so this is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a group not offered before at public sale.
