Louis Armstrong Signed Ephemera
This splendid collection is a cornucopia of Armstrong memorabilia. Numerous interesting pieces including photos, letters, cards and newspaper clippings signed by the jazz great through his long and ground-breaking career. For trivia buffs, one delightful item is a telegram in which Louis thanks the creator of the lip salve that made playing the trumpet easier -- "I have helped almost every trumped player in the world with your lip salve Ansatz creme," it reads. Another, a wonderfully touching photo of Louis and his wife Lucille, is signed by both to friends Erich and Hilda Kauffman, with the signatures clear and sharp, as is the case with most signed items here. A postcard tells a friend of an impending concert -- "Here are the group I'm working with. All are 1st class artists." Those words describe both Armstrong and this awesome collection -- first-class all the way.
