Marilyn Monroe High School Yearbook
Marilyn Monroe-Sophomore Year, 1942 University High School, West Los Angeles, CA (name in book was Norma Baker) This is the first photo of Marilyn to be "published" in a book and shows her before many major cosmetic changes enhanced her already startling beauty. She appears as a sophomore in a small individual head photo and was married in June of this year, thus leaving school forever...so this is the first and only appearance of Marilyn in a high school yearbook! This is an excellent copy with some wear to the back spine area top and bottom (which is very common on these books). The cover has the original owner's name printed in gold and there are numerous inscriptions and signing inside which are neat and normal. The pages are all excellent and there is absolutely no evidence of any moisture damage, cutouts, torn or missing pages. The page with Marilyn's posed individual head photo is absolutely clean on both sides and displays perfectly. This was the last yearbook published by University High till the war was over, and while the class was fairly large, time, the fragility of the back binding and the dislocations of World War II have caused many of these to disappear. In addition, many people did not realize that Marilyn was in the book and thus they were not especially saved for that reason! This is a must for any Monroe collector...Before She Was a Star!
