Mario Lemieux Signed "The Unretirement" Presentational Photograph

Mario Lemieux Signed "The Unretirement" Presentational Photograph

After retiring three years earlier due to injury and illness, Mario Lemieux "unretired" from professional hockey in 2000. That resulted in the unusual scene of his numbered banner actually being lowered from the rafters at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh on December 27 of that year. One of Super Mario's reasons for returning - in addition to his improving health - was that his four-year old son, Austin, wanted to see his daddy play. This framed and matted photo pays tribute to that moment; measuring 27x25" with frame, it is signed on the matte in gold Sharpie not only by Mario but by Austin, who stands in awe during the banner ceremony. Originally presented to Craig Patrick, this unusual and rare keepsake in tribute to one of hockey's all-time greats is in NM condition.
