Movie Czar Will Hays Photographs (23)
A collection of portrait and wire photographs of Will Hays, former Postmaster General and President of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America. He is often referred to as the “Czar” of the Motion Picture Industry, best known for his strict morals and removing the “sin” from cinema. Many of the photos include images of his second wife, the former Mrs. Jessie Herron Statesman, a Washington socialite. Photos range in size from 5”x7” to 8”x10” to 7.5” x 13”. One of the portrait photographs is torn but can easily be repaired. The rest of the collection is in good to very good shape with some minor creasing and wrinkling. Some photos are backed with the original news clippings.
