Outstanding 1924 Tomas Gutierrez Tobacco Premium Album
One of the finest Cuban baseball pieces there is. Splendid album is filled with stunning pages with two of each devoted to a major league baseball team from the 1924 season. The pages are each 9x12" and with advertising on the versos. Each page is on cigar label-quality stock, embossed and in stunning pastel background colors. The overlaid black & white photographic images set up a stunning contrast that makes these a sight to behold. Each pair is then blessed with a tissue overlay to protect them like a great Cuban cigar. There are twenty-eight pages here (two to a team) with fourteen teams total: New York Yankees (Babe Ruth, Huggins, Pennock, Hoyt, Combs), Washington Senators (Walter Johnson, Harris, Rice, Altrock), Detroit Tigers (Ty Cobb, Heilmann), Chicago White Sox (Frank Chance, Johnny Evers, Lyons, Faber, Schalk, Collins, Hooper), Cleveland Indians (Tris Speaker, Covaleski, Sewell), St. Louis Browns (George Sisler, Shocker), Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds (Adolpho Luque, Roush, Mays, Rixey), Pittsburgh Pirates (Pie Traynor, McKechnie, Cuyler, Maranville, Carey), Brooklyn Dodgers (Wilbert Robinson, Grimes, Vance), New York Giants (John McGraw, Hugh Jennings, Youngs, Kelly, Jackson, Terry, Groh, Frisch), St. Louis Cardinals (Rogers Hornsby, Haines, Shotton, Bottomley, Branch Rickey), Boston Braves (Casey Stengel, Marquard, Bancroft, Hermann). The cover is black cloth with "Tomas Gutierrez" cigar advertising incised in gold on the front. Overall condition is very good with the pages sold short at that grade. The colors are unaffected by any typical "Cuban" damage and there are only one or two tears to the pages. Overall the overall look is magnificent. This could be broken down and sold individually for hundred of dollars a pair each. Some might bring thousands. The pantheon of baseball memorabilia in Cuba.
