Pair of Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris Vintage Signed Sport Magazine Color Photos by Ozzie Sweet
Two "sweet" 7 x 11's" of Mantle and Maris taken from ground level by photographer Ozzie Sweet for Sport magazine in 1962, each signed by its subject. You can read much in the body language and facial expressions. Mantle strikes a relaxed pose, left hand on hip, bat slung over his right shoulder, looking over his left shoulder with a bemused grin -- every bit the elder statesman no longer with the world on those shoulders. Maris, by contrast, peers uneasily into the sky (or, metaphorically, the future), sweat dripping off his face and arms as he leans on a bat with a sometimes hostile Yankee Stadium as backdrop.
