This pair of terrific magazine photos on opposite sides of the same page, which sum up the mixed emotions of being a goalie, were signed by two all-timers who between them endured those emotions for almost 40 years, Jacques Plante and Terry Sawchuk. Plante is bracing as a skater tries to bat down a puck, while an exhausted Sawchuk tries to take a breather, his mask slid up on his forehead, gloves and sticks from a brawl littering the ice in front of him, a teammate staring at him in pity nearby.
