Photo of 1901 Fire at St Louis National League Ball Park

This is a photo of the 1901 St. Louis Cardinals fire. The fire occurred at the St. Louis Cardinals National League Ballpark on May 4, 1901. The Cards were playing the Cincinnati Reds and were deadlocked at 4 to 4 in the last of the 10th inning when the game was halted. The photo measures 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" and clearly shows the smoke rising above the grandstands as people mingle on the playing field. This is a great photo, in VG-EX condition with some surface chipping occurring along the edges. It is printed in 1949.
