Photograph Of August Herrman And Officials At The 1913 World Series

Photograph Of August Herrman And Officials At The 1913 World Series

Three major baseball personages from the early 20th century may be seen in the front row seats at the 1913 World Series. Left to right, as noted along the top edge of this fine historical photograph, are Ben Shibe, co-owner of the Philadelphia Athletics, for whom Shibe Park was named. Seated next to Shibe are Commissioner August Herrman, who also owned the Cincinnati Reds, and his Secretary, Joseph Flanner, former Editor of the Sporting News. This sharp 7” x 5” photograph has Culver Pictures and deaccession stamps on the reverse. Condition is VG-EX, with little loss at the upper left corner and other corners dogeared, all of which affect only the margins. A hairline scratch is visible in the upper right.
