Portrait Of Chicago Cub Slugger Hack Wilson By Team Photographer George Burke In Presentation Folder

Whether you’re a fan of early baseball or vintage professional photography, this 6-3/4 X 10” original picture of Chicago Cubs hall of famer Hack Wilson is sure to impress. The photographer who shot the picture, George Burke, was a legend in the Windy City photography community and was the official team photographer for the Cubs, White Sox and Chicago Bears throughout the 1930s. He was known for his unique style and this shot of the fireplug-like Wilson fits the bill. There’s the powerful Wilson in his Cub uniform, bat in hand, the ballpark background shot out of focus. His face in half shadow. The quality of the print is first rate for the time and Burke was able to capture several small details. The 1-1/2 inch border around the photograph is faded white and has a few creases and scratches. Sections of the border are bent slightly. The image comes in the original gray picture folder with the Cub’s logo in the upper left-hand corner and Burke’s ‘ “RDM” Studio 847 Belmont Chicago’ stamped in the bottom right corner. The back of the picture has a stamp of Burke’s name and office address.
