Ray Schalk Photo From Paul Thompson

Ray Schalk Photo From Paul Thompson

Perhaps one of the fastest catchers in baseball, Schalk is one of the few players in Cooperstown voted in for his fielding and handling of pitchers. A lifetime .253 hitter, he stole bases with ease and caught four no-hitters. This Paul Thompson 5 X 7 captures the man in a classic baseball pose, catchers mitt and all. The hardnosed backstop survived the Black Sox Scandal of 1919. Paul Thompson photo credits are on the reverse. Overall EX, with a small amount of chipping in the upper right corner.
