Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter Photo Archive (122)
Lot consists of 122 artist’s prints from the photographer Joe Sia’s personal files. All but a few are stamped or numbered on verso. There are four large color prints (1972 tour) the rest are black & white artist’s prints from the 1969 “Gimme Shelter” tour. The photographs are a magnificent array of candid backstage and performance photos. The Stones are at the top of their form, youth and beauty abounds. All are 1990s prints, (except for two from 1982), there is duplication, but there are still so many different shots. Some are with Ike and Tina Turner who were also on the tour. There are slight differences in development, matt vs. high gloss finish, light settings plus other special effects to create different perceptions in capturing a moment on film. Simply the best photographs we have ever seen of the Rolling Stones. Each print measures 8x10” except for 24, which are a larger format (11x14”). Condition is NRMT to MINT
