Ron Santo Chicago Cubs Photographs (15)

Ron Santo Chicago Cubs Photographs (15)

Many believe Ron Santos' induction into the baseball hall of fame is long overdue. The favorite Cubs broadcaster and former third baseman put up impressive fielding and hitting numbers in his day. This collection of (15) wire photos show Santos during 1960, his first season in the majors, to 1969. In the middle of an ultimately successful quest to break the Cub's team record for consecutive hits, Santos was sidelined with a fractured cheekbone from an errant pitch. Upon his return to the batter's box, he wore the first batting helmet with a protective earflap, now standard on batting helmets. Images depict this injury and others. Santos is also photographed in Golden Glove style, at home with his family and training. Photos measure 2 x 4" to 8 x 12". Condition of the lot ranges from VG (due only to editing marks) to MT.
