Spectacular Babe Ruth "Rookie Era Type I "Portrait" w/Red Sox Owner Jimmy McAleer
Ruth is seen early in his career in his road Boston uniform, at an unidentified field, with former Red Sox owner James R. McAleer. During this period, Ruth was the ace pitcher for a team that won three World Series titles in four years. McAleer, meanwhile, owned the BoSox from 1911-13 before being unceremoniously forced out in a silent coup while he was overseas on a world tour. The circumstances and location of this image remain unknown. Most likely, it was taken at some sort of exhibition game. Despite some minor surface creases, the image is overall sharp and clean. Measures 8x10”.
