When San Breadon bought the flailing St. Louis Cardinals in 1920 he helped turn them into one of baseball's classic all-time powerhouses, eventually winning 9 NL pennants and 6 World Series under his leadership. Here is a collection of (22) news service photographs, ranging in size from 7 x 9 to 8 x 11, that capture Breadon's time as the Cardinals' helmsman. Dating from 1938 to 1947, standout images include: 1938 (NM)posed image of the Major League's "magnates" meeting with Judge Landis; Breadon at spring training, 1938, unable to resist swinging the bat with the boys (MT). The condition of the photos ranges from VG to MT with most on the better end of that range.
