The Original Three Stooges Signed Display (PSA)

The Original Three Stooges Signed Display (PSA)

Presented is an Original Three Stooges signed display including an album page that is signed by the original Three Stooges - Larry Fine, Moe Howard and Curly Howard. The aforementioned trio of Stooges worked together on 90 short films for Columbia Pictures from 1934-1946. According to Moe Howard's autobiography, each of the Stooges signed a contract with Columbia for $600 a week ($12,154 in today's money), a contract that was renewable at Columbia's option, and a contract that Columbia Pictures President Harry Cohn renewed yearly only after scaring The Three Stooges that they might not be renewed. Reportedly, Cohn keep the Stooges from learning of the true popularity and money-making ability for Columbia. The trio's humor was physical farce and slapstick. The most popular of the Stooges was Curly Howard, who shaved his head for the role. Curly had childlike mannerisms, and he was a favorite of children and women, who were fond of Curly's innocent screen persona. Before the entry of the United States into World War II, and despite the Motion Picture Code that prohibited political statements in films, The Three Stooges made the first Hollywood films that were critical of Adolf Hitler. The Stooges made fun of Hitler in two shorts that predated the United States entry into World War II: You Nazty Spy! and I'll Never Heil Again. When Hollywood studios stopped making two-reel shorts in the late 1950s, The Three Stooges' contract was not renewed by Columbia Pictures, but soon after The Three Stooges had a resurgence of popularity as the group's films became a hit on television. Over the years, Moe Howard and Larry Fine were two of the Three Stooges constants, and "The Third Stooge" part was filled, at various times, by Curly Howard, Shemp Howard, Joe Besser, and Joe DeRita, but the original Three Stooges are regarded being the trio that portrayed the Three Stooges at their peak. The three signatures, written in ink, are around 7/10, and they read as: Larry (Stooge) Fine, Moe (Stooge) Howard, and Curly Howard. The 3x4.25" album page is very clean. The signed album page is framed along with a later print of the original Three Stooges on a golf course, each showing a different comic expression as they peer over the edge of a golf bunker. The entire display is matted and framed at 15.25x18". The Three Stooges remain popular to this day, and the display adds comedic nostalgia to any collection. The display comes with a PSA LOA.
