Tom Johnson's 1952-53 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup Trophy

Tom Johnson's 1952-53 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup Trophy

Stanley Cup splendor in sparkling silver. To commemorate their Championship season each member of the Canadiens was presented with this ornate silver-plate trophy bowl, a replica of Stanley’s original grail. This trophy went to Hall of Fame defenseman Tom Johnson, who despite playing in the shadow of Doug Harvey, was the anchor of the Habs' penalty killing unit. Known for his speed in the corners, and ability to pass, he often found himself playing center when the Canadiens were down a goal late in games. Engraved is “National Hockey League Stanley Cup Winners, Season 1952-53” and Club de Hockey Canadien Inc., Tom Johnson”. The trophy rises six inches from the base with a diameter of nine inches. In silver plate with markings on the base. In excellent condition. A hard-to-find style, much rarer than the later mini-Cups. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity signed by Johnson.
