Ty Cobb 1913 Photo by Charles Conlon

Ty Cobb 1913 Photo by Charles Conlon

Amazing image of the Georgia Peach splayed out, though finely so, at base, seemingly in pursuit of a ball, though in reality, a 1913 publicity photo to be sure. Famed photographer Charles Conlon snapped this fun shot, complete with Ty Cobb offering a playful glimpse of a smile. The photograph (vg) originally measured 8 x 10”, yet in its present state has been cut up into a somewhat seven-sided version of that original, yet the full display of Cobb’s outstretched body has not been cut. Though three corners have been clipped, the image is iconic and remains memorable. Pencil marks on back, and written in black ink "credit The Ring, Inc.", the magazine from whose archives this photo originally came.
