Ever the showman, Babe Ruth is humorously displayed holding both chicken and egg in this Type I photo. Entitled, "The Babe Turns Farmer," this 6.5x8.25" classic depicts a laughing Bambino as his effervescent personality leaps from the image. Verso typed caption reads in part, "After setting a new home run record, Babe visited Omaha, Nebr., on his barnstorming baseball trip. Here he met the feminine Babe Ruth [the chicken's name!], who recently set a new world's record by laying her 170th consecutive egg." Pinhole marks at corners and top edge, small chip at top corner, with Acme Newspictures and October 20, 1927, date stamp on back.
