This great collection of 25 photographs has something for just about every fan of baseball folklore. Among the treasures in display: A shot of boys playing baseball on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in 1947 by noted New York photographer Morris Huberland, a rare 8 x 10” of Ronald Reagan as pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander in “The Winning Team,” photos from the collection of Hall of Famer Max Carey including the 1923-24 Pittsburgh Pirates Glee Club, a Pirates 1922 team photo with Carey, Chief Yellowhorse, Pie Traynor, Rabbit Maranville, Pirate players clowning with Maranville in a wheelbarrow, Carey and an umpire, a great shot of Ralph Kiner in his Pirate years, Ted Williams leaping in the outfield in a killer shot, from Culver Service, an awesome shot of Cincinnati Reds manager Bill McKechnie, a 1960s Kodak color snapshot of Willie Mays at Dodger Stadium, an exceptional Paul Dean wire photo, a 1929 Kiki Cuyler shot from Culver, a shot of Luke Appling from 1934, Johnny Neun by Charles Conlon from the Baseball Magazine archive with Conlon’s handwriting on the reverse side, a rare 1931 photo postcard of the Chicago Cubs when they held spring training on Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles addressed to Ray Schalk, the 1939 dedication of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, excellent group fans shots including one of Ebbets Field fans waiting for World Series tickets and another of a young fan trying to scale a wall to get into the Brooklyn ballpark and shots of Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller in uniform and shirtless, displaying the well-developed shoulder muscles that propelled his 100 mph fastball. The average picture size is 6 x 8” and overall the collection is EX.
