Vic Wertz Baseball Photographs (38)

Vic Wertz Baseball Photographs (38)

Vic Wertz was one of the great home run hitters of the 1950's and on the wrong side of the one of the best plays in Major League history when Willie Mays nabbed his 450+ ft shot to dead-center field for "The Catch". He also has a talent for crossing his eyes as evidenced by several of these (38) wire photos. Dated from 1951 to 63, the photos capture him propelling Detroit to victory with his bat, getting married, beating polio, breaking a leg and accepting retirement. Photos measure 4 x 8.5 to 8 x 10". Amazing condition of the lot ranges from VG (due only to editing marks and trimming) to MT.
