Vintage Hockey Book Signed By (58) Players From (3) 1936-37 Teams including the Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings, Rangers & Maple Leafs

Foster Hewitt was a radio pioneer in Canada and the voice of Hockey in the nation where the sport was invented. This vintage first edition hockey book titled "Down the Ice" was written by Hewitt and published in 1934. It has been vintage signed during the 1936-1937 season by (58) hockey players in total and comes to us from the family that acquired the signatures more than 70 years ago. Included is a page with most of the roster (22) of the 1936-1937 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings, and another page with (17) members of their opponents in that game the 1936-1937 New York Rangers. A third page has also been signed by (19) members of the 1936-1937 Toronto Maple Leafs. Signatures are in excellent condition and average 8-9 out of 10 overall and include by team: Red Wings: Marty Barry, Larry Aurie, Herbie Lewis, Syd Howe, Ebbie Goodfellow, John Sorrell, Gordon Pettinger, Wally Kilrea (2), Mud Bruneteau, Hec Kilrea, Pete Kelly, Bucko McDonald, Rolly Roulston, John Gallagher, Howard Mackie, Scotty Bowman, Earl Robertson, John Sherf, Doug Young and Normie Smith. NYR: Lester Patrick, Lynn Patrick, Joe Cooper, Cecil Dillon, Neil Colville, Mac Colville, Butch Keeling, Alex Shibicky, Frank Boucher, Ott Heller, Babe Pratt, Murray Murdoch, Art Coulter, Bill Cook, Ching Johnson, Phil Watson, Dave Kerr. Toronto Maple Leafs: Con Smythe, Chas Conacher, Jimmie Fowler, King Clancy, Nick Metz, Bob Davidson, Busher Jackson, Gordie Drillon (rookie), Syl Apps (rookie), Bill Kendall, Red Horner, Frank Finnegan, Jack Shill, Happy Day, Reg Hamilton (enhanced), Bill Thoms, Turk Broda (rookie), Buzz Boll, Dick Irvin and on the back page by Jack Filman, Maple Leafs broadcaster. While the book exhibits some wear, including loose pages and some tape along the binding, it is the quality of the signatures that makes this an incredible find and a hockey memorabilia treasure.
